What we collect, and what we don’t.

The short version

RIT Co-Op Prep is an interview rehearsal tool. You talk out loud to an AI counterpart. Your browser transcribes your voice into text, and only the text reaches us. We do not store any audio. We keep the text of your reps so your debrief, streaks, and coach can improve over time. That’s the whole shape of it.

Read this if you use Chrome: Chrome’s Web Speech API transcribes speech by streaming your microphone audio to Google’s speech-recognition service. Google returns text; the audio is transient on Google’s side and never touches our servers. Safari on macOS 14+ and iOS 17+ transcribes on-device. If you want zero third parties in the audio path, use Safari.

What we collect

• Google sign-in identity — your name, email (must be @rit.edu unless you’re on the Career Services staff allowlist), Google account ID, and profile photo URL. We use this to sign you in and gate access to the RIT deploy.
• Rep transcripts — the text of what you say during a drill, plus the AI’s responses and the per-turn coach signals we compute (pillar scores, pacing, confidence, clarity). Kept per user so your debrief and streaks work across sessions.
• Drill metadata — which drill you ran, when, track/major, verdict, elapsed time.
• Payment identifier — if you subscribe, we store the Stripe customer ID against your user record so webhook updates (renewals, cancellations) find you. Stripe handles the actual card data; we never see it.
• Staff notes and contact log — if you are a Career Services coordinator on the allowlist, notes you write about a student and any calls you log stay under your account and are visible only to other allowlisted staff.

What we don’t collect

• Voice audio — on our end. The audio stream never touches our servers. We only receive the text of what you said, produced by your browser’s built-in speech recognition. See the Chrome caveat above for what your browser does with the audio.
• Video. The app never uses the camera.
• Third-party analytics. On the RIT deployment we do not run Google Analytics, Segment, Mixpanel, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, or any other third-party tracker. Cloudflare Pages produces host-level request logs for security and performance, but those are not shared or used for advertising.
• Location or device sensor data. Not requested, not stored.

Who else sees your data

• Google — two roles. (1) Identity provider: they see standard OAuth sign-in events when you sign in. (2) Speech recognition, ONLY IF you use Chrome: Chrome’s implementation of the Web Speech API sends your microphone audio to Google’s speech-to-text service during a drill. Governed by Google’s privacy policy. Safari on macOS 14+ and iOS 17+ does not use Google for this — transcription runs on-device.
• Anthropic — receives the current drill transcript window so Claude can play the interviewer voice. Governed by Anthropic’s commercial terms (no training on your data).
• OpenAI — receives the drill transcript window for the coach, spotter, and title-generation calls. Governed by OpenAI’s API data-usage policy (no training on your data).
• Stripe — handles subscription checkout and billing. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts the app and stores per-user streaks / drill outcomes in Cloudflare KV. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
• Railway — hosts the gateway service and Postgres database.

How long we keep it

Rep transcripts, drill outcomes, and streaks stay against your account for as long as you’re using the tool. Email us at [email protected] to delete your account and everything attached to it — we’ll do it within seven days. Staff notes and contact log entries persist until the coordinator who wrote them deletes them.
